Boris Vallejo, and his wife, Julie Barr have been well know by fans of the centaur form for many years. Each year the publication of the Vallejo fantasy calendar is looked forward to in hopes that another depiction of the centaur form will be included. Vallejo's style of anatomical accuracy, energetic poses, and striking lighting have been the standard many fantasy artists have worked to meet.
Although seldom shown in 'realistic' settings, Vallejo is, after all, a fantasy artist, the realism of his subjects is amazing. It almost seems like the subjects could jump off the canvas and into the real world. Not only is his work featured in his calendar, but as illustrations for posters, books and magazines.
